Your Profile

  • University degree in economics, ideally with a focus on finance or auditing.
  • 3-5 years of experience in complex program management, preferably within an international audit firm or global corporation.
  • Proven ability to scope and lead large-scale, cross-functional strategic projects with a strong grasp of complex issues and end-to-end processes.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in auditing, HGB and IFRS accounting, including foundational work on accounting standards.
  • 3-5 years of experience in sustainability audits and reporting, with solid knowledge of EU Taxonomy, CSRD, ICS, CDP, and sustainability reporting frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of financial systems and processes, such as SAP, Cognos, and Smartnotes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and project management tools.
  • Clear and effective communicator, capable of engaging with colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Resilient, calm, and results-oriented, with a creative and collaborative approach to overcoming challenges.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and regions, fostering a team-oriented mindset.

Your Responsibilities:

Reporting Setup and Coordination:
Develop and implement structure, processes, and procedures to support EU CSRD and Taxonomy reporting.

  • Develop and coordinate complex, group-wide sustainability reporting and taxonomy-related projects.
  • Ensure readiness for audit and annual assurance of financial and non-financial data.
  • Document processes, assumptions, analysis and conclusions to support auditability of data in accordance with relevant commercial codes and regulations.
  • Educate, lead and coordinate group-wide and entity level activities to map and document data collection processes and analysis.

Data collection, analysis, and documentation:
Conduct data collection, analysis and prepare documentation for EU Taxonomy eligibility and alignment testing.

  • Perform and document materiality tests for EU Taxonomy quarterly and annually.
  • Review regulations and identify eligible products, services and investments that qualify for EU Taxonomy.
  • Conduct data collection and analysis for EU Taxonomy eligibility and alignment testing.
  • Educate, lead and coordinate group-wide and entity level activities to conduct data collection.
  • Facilitate application of regulatory requirements, creating Messer specific questionnaires and leading internal sessions with entities in order to document product and policies related to sustainability attributes required by the regulation.
  • Identify opportunities for automation for data collection and EU taxonomy reporting using SAP, Cognos or other financial related systems.
  • Be responsible for the quality assurance of data from functional areas, regional experts, and subsidiaries.

Regulatory & reporting requirements:
Prepare analysis, memos, commentaries, and support documentation for communication with auditors, internal and external audiences in support of audit procedures, management report, assurance and sustainability disclosures to various parties.

  • Monitor regulatory landscape, understand implications and implement changes and updates in accordance with the regulatory requirements of the CSRD/EU Taxonomy, German Commercial Code (HGB), IFRS and other international relevant regulations.
  • Define report approval workflows and sign off process for disclosures and reports.
  • Support sustainability reporting and annual management report preparation.

Interface management:
Collaborate with internal teams, subsidiaries, and external stakeholders on CSRD and EU Taxonomy compliance, including interactions with rating agencies.

  • Work with Internal Controls teams to develop and implement CSRD-related control mechanisms.
  • Partner with corporate and regional accounting and controlling teams to standardize processes and prepare ESG/CSRD/Taxonomy-related reports and executive presentations.
