(Senior) Electronic Materials & Processes Engineer (m/f/d)

For our client - a leading and internationally renowned company in the aerospace sector - we are looking for an experienced (Senior) Electronic Materials & Processes Engineer (m/f/d) at the Oberpfaffenhofen site.

In this role, you will contribute to the development of next-generation optical space instruments and smart satellite systems, taking on a central advisory and quality assurance function.

Your Tasks

  • Technical Consultancy & Risk Mitigation: You will advise the engineering team regarding materials and processes applied in next-generation optical instruments and mitigate technical risks.
  • Process & Manufacturing Assurance: You will support soldering and crimping verifications, build an interface to electrical engineering, and evaluate SMT processes.
  • Space Qualification: As part of an international team, you will assess material and process suitability for applications in the space environment.
  • Reviews & Audits: You will review and assess manufacturing, inspection, and test methods/procedures for building and qualifying space equipment and systems, while conducting regular technical reviews.
  • Non-Conformance Management: You will support technical teams in case of non-conformances and assist in proposal evaluations with your technical expertise.

Your Profile

  • Education: Master’s degree or PhD in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a comparable qualification.
  • Experience: Several years of experience in soldering and crimping technologies, alongside strong expertise in Materials and Processes Control (MMPP) for space applications.
  • Standards & Methods: Solid knowledge of applicable ECSS-ST-Q-70 standards and strong expertise in metallurgy and SMT technology.
  • Languages & Travel: Fluent English (primary working language); intermediate German skills are sufficient. Willingness to undertake business travel is explicitly required.
  • Mindset: Structured, goal-oriented, and independent way of working, strong communication and negotiation skills, and enjoyment of working within an international team.

Optional Skills

  • Inspector Certificate for ECSS-Q-ST-70-61
  • Experience in Quality Assurance (QA), Product Assurance (PA), or fracture mechanics in the space industry
  • Knowledge of PCB technologies, brazing, or welding
  • French language skills
