As a Field Service Engineer you are responsible for the proper operation of the systems according to their specifications and for the customer satisfaction.
A day in the life:
- Perform on-site and remote troubleshooting, repair and installation of our sophisticated Electron Microscopes and Surface Analysis (XPS) systems
- Provide on-site training for customers related to basic operation and routine maintenance of the system
- Keep track and maintain local spare part's inventory
- Dispatch third-party service providers for on-site work and follow up to ensure problems were resolved to the customer’s satisfaction
- Actively monitor the status of customer contracts. Track and schedule on-site PM visit(s).
- Ensure that all documentation related to service support activity is completed accurately and submitted on a timely basis. This includes Field Service Reports, Service Work Orders and Quotes.
Keys to success:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or scientific field (engineering or physics) is required.
- Graduates must have knowledge of Electron Microscope.
- A full SEM / Dual Beam is equivalent to the BS degree.
- 2+ years of service experience in a related scientific, technical and / or customer-facing role is expected.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for a positive and effective communication with customers, colleagues and superiors
- Strong proficiency in instrument systems technology to include electronics, (precise) mechanics, physics, and software technology
- Experience in troubleshooting and repairing of ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems is an advantage
- Literate in Windows software environments
- You have good abstraction skills and are characterized by perseverance and flexibility
- There is a will to succeed, and you can learn from your mistakes
- you are Fluent in English and preferably also German
- Ability and desire to travel routinely, often on short notice, to customer sites to resolve problems or to support other field service personnel
- Ability to travel internationally up to 30% depending on place of residence
- Driving license B required
