Your role:

As a Patent Counsel, experienced in supporting Healthcare businesses, you will be part of an international and globally acting team. In the Corporate Patents team, you work agile and dedicate part of your time on strategic counseling for our businesses and in addition deliver excellent service to the patent function by providing governance on IP processes and managing the PS side of M&A projects and IP deals. You exhibit a strong understanding of IP in Healthcare, be able to work in cross-functional teams and be capable of translating intellectual property law into guidance for our patents business partner organizations, such as IP standards and best practice sharing.

As member of a team your tasks will also cover the full range of topics relating to technical intellectual property: patent drafting and prosecution, defending and enforcing intellectual property rights, evaluation of IP situations and negotiation of IP-related agreements.

The positions is based in Darmstadt, Germany.

Minimum requirements

  • Master degree in chemistry or biology or related field; preferably PhD
  • Preferably qualified as German and European Patent Attorney
  • at least 5 years of professional experience as inhouse patent counsel in the healthcare industry with a strong focus on IP deals / negotiations
  • curiosity and ability to quickly become familiar with various new scientific and technological topics
  • proficiency in English language, additional language skills are beneficial
  • excellent team player with strong analytical and convincing communication skills
  • profound understanding of intercultural behaviors in an international business environment
  • self-motivated and digital native

Preferred Qualifications

  • working experience in negotiating intellectual property-related contracts
  • project management skills
